Spiritual Jitters

faith

Faith is a strong antidote to “Why” and “What If?”

“Spiritual Jitters”: a temporary condition brought on by reduced trust. This results in high blood pressure, tremors, racing heart rate and often questions without reasonable answers. Only known antidote is renewed trust.

Picture the disciples, observers to miracle after miracle. They had seen blind eyes open before their astonished eyes. They had seen demons flee before the force of Jesus’ authority. They had been privy to water turning into quality wine, watched life-long crippled legs suddenly able to support the body’s weight for the first time.

They’d even watched a good friend return to life after being dead for several days.

Now they’re in a boat … in a storm. And terrified. In the front of the boat is Jesus, the very one they had witnessed turn life upside down doing things that couldn’t be done. He had exhibited power over physical deficiencies, over financial shortfalls, over lifelong bondages and over the very forces of nature.

Yet they caught the ‘Spiritual Jitters.’ “Jesus, don’t you even care about us?” they hollered over the sound of the wind and waves.

We are prone to catch this spiritual ailment when we ask a lot of questions. Like”
– Can He really do it?
– And if He can, why hasn’t He?
– Am I really worthy of his intervention?
– What will it be like if it doesn’t happen as I’ve asked for it to happen?

And before long … we’ve caught it. Sniffles, coughs and eventually gagging can occur. What can be done to get rid of the ‘jitters?’

Here are prescriptions proven to work, and they can be taken together and in as much quantity as you desire. You can never overdose on these … they will only make you stronger!

“Do not let your heart be troubled (jittery); believe in God, believe also in Me.” John 14:1 KJV

“Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you Do not let your heart be troubled (or jittery), nor let it be fearful.” John 14:27 KJV

“Be anxious (jittery) for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6 KJV

“And who of you by being worried (jittery) can add a single hour to his life?” Matthew 6:27 KJV

This week, allow God’s promises and the memories of his care in the past put an end to “Spiritual Jitters.”

“When I am afraid (jittery), I will put my trust in You.” Psalm 56:3 KJV
