Come Hungry!

If you’re coming to my house I expect you to eat. God is no different!

If that picture above is of my grill … at my house … and you’re invited to dinner, I expect you to come hungry!

Don’t grab a McFlurry at Macdonald’s on your way over. Don’t fill up on peanuts saved from your last airline trip. It’s probably even better if you skipped lunch that day. I want you to be hungry at my house.

Coming to my house isn’t about dieting or portion control … has nothing to do with conservation of commodities. We won’t look suspiciously at you if you ask for another helping. We’ve done our work beforehand and want to see you satisfied and filled when you leave. Not gluttonous or sick … just happy and satisfied with good food.

Now let me talk to you about God’s house. Nobody prepares for our arrival like God does. When you slip into his house He’s always prepared something very special for you! When you pick up your Bible to read, there’s something there for you every time. I may not know what you’re hungry for, but God does. He not only knows what you like, but more importantly knows what you need! If it’s spiritual protein you lack, it’ll be in what He serves. What you’ll need to get through the next week? It will be there for you.

So when you come into God’s house and presence … come hungry.

  • Don’t spoil your appetite by indulging in junk food before you get there.
  • Put down your smart phone and all it has to tell you. Eat!
  • Relax … you can’t overeat at his table.

It’s not a matter of God not wanting to feed you.

“I am the Lord your God, who brought you up from the land of Egypt. Open your mouth wide and I will fill it.”

Psalm 81:10 Amplified Bible

“The Lord will not allow the righteous to hunger [God will meet all his needs], …

Proverbs 10:3 Amplified Bible

His table is spread with what you need and desire. Just come hungry!
