Don’t Throw It Away!!

Don’t you dare carelessly throw away your confidence in God. It’s the strongest possible anchor for your soul.

“I have confidence in your strength; you are my refuge, O God.” Psalm 59:9 GNB

Some people draw confidence from their looks, their pedigree, their bank account or other things. The problem occurs when the looks begin to fail (weight gain, hair loss, etc.). It also declines when people realize their family background isn’t all that terrific, or that they’ve lost most of their portfolio to a downturn in the money market.

We all attempt to shore up on self-confidence in methods that require a great deal of effort on our part and don’t really do the job.

Coming through this pandemic has also been hard on everyone’s confidence. We feel unsure of ourselves. Even self-starters have had their starters disengaged. And when you don’t have the freedom of going out when you’d like and going where you’d like (and ditching the face mask), confidence falters.

But confidence is too critical to life to throw it away or allow it to be taken from you.

Amid all the change … all the schedules allowing too much time to do too little … fighting off all the fruitless questions about what we could have done or be doing better – one thing hasn’t changed one iota. Actually, it’s not a thing but a Person.

God hasn’t changed, lost direction, or quit caring for any of us. He welcomes us to put our confidence solidly on his shoulders. Hang on to these words:

“The Fear-of-God builds up confidence, and makes a world safe

for your children.” Proverbs 14:6 MSG

“For I am confident of this very thing, that He who began a good work in you will perfect it

until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 NASB

“Therefore, let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we

may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” Hebrews 4:16 ESV

Even though you may need to know when things will open up again, need to know the job situation, figure out which politician to believe and come to the conclusion that you may just be around when the virus exits our lives … you really need your confidence in God to be the strongest anchor in your life. Don’t throw it away!

“So do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded.”

Hebrews 10:35 NIV
