A Tribute To Intercessors

Intercessor: someone who prays for more than those close to him and believes God answers his prayers anywhere in the world!

I taught a Prayer Summit this past weekend and as I taught the material on Intercessory Prayer, I couldn’t help thinking about my Fresh Heart family.

I know that many of you are intercessors. You pray regularly for those not just in your immediate family, but for people all around you and all over the world. It’s not just ‘us four and no more’ that are the targets of your prayers. God is pleased with your selflessness in your prayer times.

So, to honor you intercessors (and to put some subtle pressure of those who haven’t moved into this rewarding and critically important part of prayer), I offer some thoughts on this subject.

You don’t find intercessors ‘on sale’ 10 for a dollar at the Dollar Store; they’re in the high end jewelry store securely kept under lock and key. These are not dime-a-dozen trinkets but jewels of unimaginable value to God and his Kingdom

Intercessors cannot be bought or sold… their assignments come from God.

You can’t stop intercessors, they can get in anywhere and into any situation. Tyrants have attempted to keep their prayers out of their barricaded countries, but to no avail.

Their weapons can reach and destroy targets which no one but God knows exist.

You can’t wear out an intercessor. They can go long periods of time without sufficient sleep, foregoing food for days and curtailing social contact when on a mission. It can be a lonely calling.

Intercessors welcome Satan’s challenges as they move through prayer into forbidden fortresses of the enemy.

These prayer warriors are fountains of faith, hoping and believing when hopelessness abounds and dreams are dead all around them.

Intercessors know the war will be won and they don’t crumble at seeming setbacks and delays. They’re in it for the duration and they’re ‘in it to win it.’

Intercessors are not obvious leaders in the fight for the KINGDOM. The platforms of the churches and the Christian television programs fail to report their distinct significance in winning spiritual victories when others never saw the victories coming.

Almost always overlooked and vastly under-appreciated they patiently await heaven’s revelation that from quiet and dark corners of obscurity, both out of sight and mind, facing what to many would be fatal spiritual wounds… throughout time, they have been heaven’s true super heroes.

Hail valiant warriors!

“I urge you, first of all, to pray for all people. Ask God to help them;

 intercede on their behalf, and give thanks for them.”
