A Monthly Prayer Devotional

“Now when Daniel learned that the decree had been published, he went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before.” Daniel 6:10 NIV

The published decree that Daniel knew about said that anyone who worshipped anyone or anything other than the king, would be put to death. But so entrenched and important was his daily prayer time, that it took precedence over the threat.

How easily some of us are deterred from our appointment with the Father! It doesn’t take that much for us to miss one, two or more days of our devotional life. But it doesn’t have to be that way. We can and must move past distractions and into God’s presence with regularity.

Ponder: Who suffers more from a lack of devotional regularity … you or God? What does a steadfast routine say to God about your relationship with Him? Remember, it’s not a strict Biblical vow that God is looking for; simply a heart’s responsive commitment.
