God’s Good ‘Suddenlies’

God can get good things to you (like blessings, promises, defenses and wonderful surprises) very quickly!

God can and does move quickly when it suits his divine purposes. Some things take time … others don’t have time to resolve themselves. God’s watch shows only one time – ‘the fullness of time.’ That’s the time when everything is in the right place at precisely the opportune time for God’s plan to come to pass.

A verse we scratch our heads over when times are tough and answers aren’t to be found is Romans 8:28 in the New Living Translation: And we know that God causes everything to work together for the good of those who love God and are called according to his purpose for them.” And when might that be, we wonder?

In ‘the fullness of time.’ And that would be God’s time, not necessarily ours … actually seldom ours. When God orchestrates the perfect outcome with everyone in place and the plans all dovetailing, it happens quickly.

Let’s say we’ve been praying for God’s release for someone we love. The bondage may be physical, emotional, financial or a myriad of other chains. Listen to Paul and Silas’ turn of events as they sat chained together in prison: “And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” Acts 16:26 NIV

When God had the antagonist Saul at the right place and at the right time for his transfer from Satan’s kingdom to God’s Kingdom, it got it done quickly. “And as he journeyed, he came near Damascus: and suddenly there shined round about him a light from heaven:” Acts 9”3

When God had the right people for the job assembled in one place and seeking the same thing – “… suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting” and the Church was birthed with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Acts 2:2 NIV

David knew the speed of God coming to his defense: All my enemies will be overwhelmed with shame and anguish; they will turn back and suddenly be put to shame.” Psalm 6:10 NIV

This week, hold steady while God prepares to answer you. Really good things can come quickly  to those who wait … on the Lord.

“He (God) is the one who sends his promise throughout the earth.

His word travels with great speed.”

Psalm 147:15 God’s Word Translation
