Want To Hear A Secret?

Is there any place quiet enough in your life to be able to catch some personal time with the Father?

“There is a private place reserved for the lovers of God,

where they sit near him and receive the revelation-secrets

of his promises.” Psalm 25:14  The Passion Translation

I sometimes tire of crowds. I love to attend big events, but after a while my space seems strangely diminished. There is pressure on my inner ‘me.’ I’m just one of a multitude of people, and although similar in our love for a favorite team or driver, we don’t all want the same thing. I’m missing my Father.

It’s not that I can’t sense God near me. It’s just that I can’t hear his voice! And I lose the features of his face while staring at the jumbo screen.

The pressure of suffocation surrounded by crowds begins to lessen when I’m in my car going home, but there’s still road noise and visual distractions.

But there is a private place that God has reserved for me because He knows the deep yearning of my heart. And when I get to that place and have put other things aside by choice, a wonderful dialog begins to take place.

Not only am I privy to his voice, but the inflections in his voice complete the conversation. And often there is nothing but a smile on his face and on mine.

I admit … after decades of this growing relationship, I am still amazed that this King of the Universe would find enjoyment in his relationship with me as I do with Him. The Creator and pauper, walking in fellowship side by side – has to be the most unlikely duo conceived by men or even angels.

And yet the friendship endures and grows. It satisfies today more than it did yesterday. And the reason it continues to draw me in is because there are secrets shared between us. They are more his secrets than mine, since He already knows about my secrets, yet He takes delight in opening his heart to mine in those occasions where I find my way to that private place.

Until heaven, we will have to work to get away from distractions and unnecessary noise and let him share with us the secrets that will hold our hearts and lives together in these troubling times.

“You will seek me and find me when you seek me

with all your heart.” Jeremiah 29:13 NIV
