Who Answers Your Door?

Don’t open your front door with fear in your heart. Send faith to deal with evil reports.

Because we have lived through the last couple of years, we have all been subjected to fear. We’ve moved through Covid with its tests, masks, shutdowns, deaths and confusing reports on what to do with it.

We live in financial ‘tough times’… at least for most of us. We’ve been forced to consider radical changes in our live styles to meet the demands of the times. It feels like we’ve been lied to by almost any politician (and we used to only distrust used car salesmen!)

It’s no wonder that we are feeling like a war is being fought in our minds and emotions. So, how do we handle things in this new year?

Perhaps we need to realize that we have a powerful antidote to fear, already residing within us. It’s called ‘Faith.’ And it came to us through salvation since we couldn’t accept salvation unless we believed and had faith in the words of Jesus: For by grace you have been saved through faith.” Ephesians 2:8 ESV

Now when the master of ‘fake news’ and stories rings your doorbell with lies designed to scare you to death and wants to camp out with you for awhile… send Faith to the door and watch what happens!

  • The Liar says, “That pain in your side? Your aunt died from something like that and you probably will too.” Faith responds, “… the prayer of faith will save the one who is sick, and the Lord will raise him up.” James 5:15 ESV
  • Our Antagonist says, “Business is slow. You’ll probably go under soon.” But Faith looks Antagonist in the eye and says, “Fear not, for I am with you; … I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10 ESV
  • The Enemy says, “You’ve been through so much. You’ll never be truly happy.” But Faith smiles and says, “You will show me the path of life; in Your presence is fullness of joy;” Psalm 16:11 AMP

God didn’t design us to handle constant negativity so be extremely careful what and who you listen to. Instead, let’s take the Apostle Paul’s admonition with  us into this new year.

“Summing it all up, friends, I’d say you’ll do best by filling your minds

and meditating on things true, noble, reputable, authentic, compelling,

gracious—the best, not the worst; the beautiful, not the ugly; things to praise,

not things to curse.” Philippians 4:8 MSG

This year, don’t answer your doorbell without Faith by your side.
