Heaven’s Water Distribution Program

Use the wrong nozzle outlet and you can ruin some of God’s best laid plans

We seldom give these nozzles any thought, but they are a trusted helper in delivering water around our yards. A different nozzle outlet for vastly differing needs. Kind of wish I were receiving royalties monthly for coming up with this handy hose companion.

Using the wrong outlet can produce sad results; like watering your wife’s prized hanging basket using the JET stream. Or using the mister for cleaning dirt off the driveway. Or how about using the wide angle for a single new plant’s watering.

There is a spiritual use to different outlets controlling the output of the water of our lives. What water, you ask. Watch how we become part of “Heaven’s Water Distribution Program.” First, we show up thirsty: I thirst for you, my whole being longs for you, in a dry and parched land where there is no water.” Psalm 63:1 NIV

Next, God welcomes us into his distribution plan: “… and let everyone who is thirsty come. Let anyone who wishes take the water of life as a gift.” Revelations 22:17 NRSVUE Now we ask Him, “What kind of water pressure do I have available?  He answers from His Word: The water that I will give will become in them a spring of water gushing up to eternal life.” John 4:14 NRSVUE   And further, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38 NIV

This exciting use of heaven’s water supply flowing through us is one of God’s greatest miracles. Once the supply is there in its ‘available gushing flow,’ God needs to instruct us how to control the outflow nozzle.

As we willingly become ‘water waiters’ to the thirsty around us, Holy Spirit instructs us that certain people will require a different outlet flow. There are some who will need a very concentrated watering. They will be confused by a ‘cover-the-most-you-can-in-the-shortest-time’ soaking. God’s Spirit will prompt and enable you to use a narrow stream of water that relates precisely to their spiritual need.

Others may require a powerful stream from your hose. They’ve got sin and grit and grime all over and a quiet application of water may not cut through. Here is where God’s jet flow of water can blast sin and complacency out of their lives and into the next county by your prayerful and careful intervention.

But sometimes, all that’s needed is the quiet and tender misting outflow. Those covered this way are probably very close to God’s garden and will respond quickly to God’s invitation to join “Heaven’s Water Distribution Program.”

Handle your nozzle carefully.
