Proven Love

God's love

Whatever your love story, God wants you involved in His!

Everyone loves a good love story.

That’s why Hallmark channel is so popular with a lot of women and (if truth be known) quite a few men as well. In spite of their cookie cutter plots and the fact that within the first six minutes we know who will get the boot, who will end up with a proposal, we keep tuning them in and letting our emotions engage.

I enjoyed telling our own love story previously with you. But there’s always a bit of hesitation on my part, because sadly many haven’t experienced anything like what we did.

There are literally multitudes who did not have a satisfactory home life as kids. So many never heard any “attaboys,” “knew you could do it,” “so proud of you,” and “you’ve got a wonderful future before you.”

Others lived with parents so deeply into their own pain and defensive actions that passing on the hope of a ‘happy ever after’ ending was never transmitted to their kids. It’s a case of ‘failure observed’/’failure expected.’

And there were many whose love stories started out ‘Hallmark’ and ended up ‘Judge Judy.’ Some have even stopped looking for or expecting to find real love.

But this week the good news for all of us, those with great stories and those with sad stories whose pain has become the gift that keeps on giving, is this: we are all part of the greatest love story ever concocted.

The story starts here: God showed how much he loved us by sending his one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through him. This is real love—not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” I John 4:9,10 NLT

God is the Great Initiator in this love story. We brought nothing into its narrative but a backpack of condemnation, repeated failures and brokenness beyond description. We had absolutely no way of getting in on this story or any idea that we could. “But God clearly shows and proves His own love for us, by the fact that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8 Amplified Bible

There is a vast multitude of believers who have proven the uniqueness and power of this God-arranged love relationship. In spite of sour and disappointing relationships, even though promises have been broken and trust taken advantage of … there is a constant river of love that flows in your direction. Take the plunge!

“O Lord, you are so good, so ready to forgive, so full of unfailing love

for all who ask for your help.” Psalm 86:5 NLT
