Don’t FLOP…TRUST
or
stalwart?
After Joanie’s passing two weeks ago and the immediate change in my life in almost every arena… I pondered whether a change in my ministry might be in order. I felt sort of ‘floppy’, with emotions, stamina, mind and emotions reacting to every breeze coming from any direction. I wondered how you apply for those jobs. You’ve seen – in front of new businesses. They collapse at any moment but struggle back to an upright position.
I could do that. I was sure of it.
But God started speaking to me within hours of her leaving. He’s had the two of us coming back over and over again to several of the books of Psalms. One in particular is Psalm 92.
In times of darkness in our lives we most definitely need light to come from somewhere and God’s Word certainly has the Light we are looking for. Pay attention here:
“…the godly shall flourish like palm trees and grow tall as the cedars of Lebanon. 13 For they are transplanted into the Lord’s own garden and are under his personal care. 14 Even in old age they will still produce fruit and be vital and green.15 This honors the Lord and exhibits his faithful care. He is my shelter. There is nothing but goodness in Him!” Psalm 92:12-15 TLB
So don’t go looking around town looking for a ‘floppy’ that looks like me. Both my sweetheart and me have told God we’re in this race if we get what we want or He decides He’s got a better idea.
Joanie is more than happy for where it took her and I, too, am accepting it, albeit with still with occasional tears.
Dutch Sheets recently said, “Somebody here knows how to turn the lights back on!”
His name is Jesus… He’s keeping me from flopping …
And the lights are still on. PTL!
