Pull Your Eyes Away!

We’ve got more to do than ‘watch and fear.’ We were made for this battle!

I’ve always been impressed by the 200 men of Issachar who joined others attempting to keep David alive until he had become King of Israel. They stood out from the others because they “understood the times and knew what Israel should do.” (I Chronicles 12)

How well do you understand the times we’re in right now? Do we understand that there is a colossal spiritual battle going on in the heavens over who rules this planet? Does that spiritual warfare call to us… or are we to quietly submit to the world’s anarchy against God and his Kingdom?

What should we do, living in a society that God pronounces doom over because they “call evil good and good evil, who put darkness in place of light and light in place of darkness, who substitute bitter for sweet and sweet for bitters?” Isaiah 5:20 MSG

A nation that previously honored morality, kindness, common sense and security has thrown all caution to the wind… unborn babies are now ‘throw-aways,’ national borders have crumbled, there is wickedness in the hearts of many leaders and truth has “fallen in the streets” (Isaiah 59:14)

Psalm 11:3 begs the question after law and order have collapsed, “What can the righteous do?” NLT  What indeed?

Here are some things we must do:

  1. Pull your eyes away from as much news as you can. Little of it is true… especially from God’s viewpoint. We get God’s viewpoint from his Word. “So we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are unseen; for the things which are visible are temporal [just brief and fleeting], but the things which are invisible are everlasting and imperishable.” II Corinthians 4:18 AMP
  2. Pull your heart away from fear. “But when I am afraid, I will put my confidence in you. Yes, I will trust the promises of God.” Psalm 56:3 TLB
  3. Don’t throw away your confidence. God designed us for ‘rough weather.’ We’re not on a sinking ship and Satan will not win regardless of what it may seem. So do not throw away your confidence;it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised. For, “In just a little while, he who is coming will come and will not delay.” Hebrews 10:35-37 NIV

Don’t shrink back. You were born for this battle. You’ve got a Lion in you!
