Unified In God’s Victory

From God’s viewpoint, there is more than meets the eye when it comes to elections. It’s time to hear His vital words.

We sang a worship song this morning that celebrated the victory of God and urged us to praise Him for that victory. I’m sorry to say that some in the sanctuary felt like God had lost that victory while others were celebrating it. And that’s what politics does to every one of us. It pushes us around until half of us are facing the other half of us and snarling and glaring across the aisle.

I know the joys and sorrows of this election will not allow many of us to think clearly… but we’d better wake up to the fact that God’s victory we were singing about had nothing to do with a political party or any candidate. God’s ultimate victory was accomplished through the obedience, death and resurrection of His Son and through that overwhelming victory grants access to eternity with Him (completely rid of our old sin notions and quickness to fight with others.)

There are millions around the world who desperately need to take hold of God’s grace-filled offer!

Let’s allow our emotions to settle and begin asking God for help to engage our needy world and tell them that God wants to share His eternal home with them and would love to offer them a clean slate of their sins, a renewed and loving heart and enough peace to overcome any pride or despondency from the events of this last week.

“But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory

through our Lord Jesus Christ.”

I Corinthians 15:58 ESV

“But thanks be to God, who in Christ always leads us in

triumphal procession, and through us spreads the fragrance

of the knowledge of him everywhere.”

II Corinthians 2:14 ESV

“I have said these things to you, that in me you may have peace.

In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”

John 16:33 ESV
