God and Tidyness
“We serve a God who outrages the tidy-minded!”
For all you ‘a-place-for-everything-and-everything-in-its-place’ people, who hate last minute decisions, who get frustrated over changes in procedures they feel comfortable with… I sort of apologize for that statement above.
I applaud routines, set times and preferred and efficient ways of doing life. I even tip my hat to those so consistent with their lives that few things break their pace or their efficiency.
However, God does at times mess with our concept of ‘tidy.’
This could be the time in God’s economy when new, unexpected and a bit of messiness will be necessary.
Could you break your routine if Holy Spirit directed you to a person who desperately needed your life’s story at that moment? Would you miss your weekly spot at the gym if God had an assignment for you on that day?
How close are you to saying “Here am I Lord. Send me” and not add a handful of contingencies and appeals of “But I’m not done with…?
Don’t for a moment doubt that God has you here right now… because He might just need you right here – right now!
Ponder these two translations of Psalm 119:32
“I grasp and cling to whatever you tell me; God, don’t let me down! I’ll run the course you lay out for me if you’ll just show me how.” Psalm 119:32 MSG
“I will [not merely walk, but] run the way of Your commandments, when You give me a heart that is willing.” Psalm 119:32 AMPC
Next time you feel your secure world and your comfortable routines are shaking, allow God to use you in any way He sees fit!
“Without any hesitation I hurry
to obey your commandments.”
Psalm 119:60 GW
