It’s a delight to be able to draw clean water amid those drinking from polluted streams.
“With joy you will drink deeply from the fountain of salvation!”
Isaiah 12:3 New Living Translation
It’s a joy to gain strength while others around you are losing theirs.
“Don’t be dejected and sad, for the joy of the Lord is your strength!”
Nehemiah 8:10 New Living Translation
It’s an honor to seek abundance in a land of scarcity.
“By his divine power, God has given us everything we need for living a godly life.
We have received all of this by coming to know him …”
II Peter 1:3 New Living Translation
It’s a secure feeling to walk in light while others grope and trip in darkness.
“Jesus spoke to the people once more and said, ‘I am the light of the world.
If you follow me, you won’t have to walk in darkness,
because you will have the light that leads to life.’”
John 8:12 New Living Translation
It’s a treat to be a recipient of God’s generosity when everyone around us tends to take from us.
“Whatever is good and perfect is a gift coming down to us from God our Father,
who created all the lights in the heavens. He never changes or casts a shifting shadow.”
James 1:17 New Living Translation
Let’s not forget that even when times are tough … stresses abound … fear of the future gnaws aggressively at the fringes of our minds … cupboards resemble ‘empty’ more than they look ‘full’ … troubles appear answer-less … the dooms-dayers and nay-sayers are getting all the air time … even then, we are as secure as the very promises of God.
This week, demand a recount. Divide the good from the bad. Stack the plusses against the minuses. Take careful note of the benefits of walking with God. Don’t allow the pressures to overshadow the pleasures. Don’t let the tough times make you forget God’s tender care. Don’t for a moment permit fear to cloud the amazing fact that God has welcomed you into his very family.
Now relax and enjoy the relationship and the journey!
