Prepped and Ready
“He creates each of us by Christ Jesus to join him in the work he does, the good work he has gotten ready for us to do, work we had better be doing.” Ephesians 2:10 The Message
According to Psalm 139:15, 16 God has preplanned our days. There is a master plan in motion … out of sight, but constantly in play. From the verse above, the work he planned for us is to coordinate with his work. Amazing!
Have you considered what work he might have for you today?
Maybe it’s following through on a project that could affect someone’s life. Or a letter or email needing to be written that is to encourage a disappointed heart. Possibly his task for you today is to befriend a total stranger, welcoming them into the embrace of God’s love for them.
As we have been reminded, God has no hands but ours. No feet but those attached to the end of our legs. He uses our mouths to speak, our hearts to feel and respond. His Kingdom work begs our partnership.
So are you ready today to tackle God’s agenda? Are you prepared and ready?
As I write this I am sitting in my local Starbucks. I get here on Monday mornings just after they open at 4:30. At this hour, this is not the coffee house we typically experience. I am the only customer. It’s actually a bit lonely back here in my corner.
But are the four team members who work here sitting around waiting for the action to commence? Absolutely not. They are extremely busy prepping, cleaning and stocking. They are aware that in an hour or so this place will be jumping. Preparation now will make all the difference then!
How about us? Are we prepared for what’s coming later in this day? Are we spiritually prepared? Ready emotionally to link arms with the Creator in the day’s activities? The perspective I need later might just be found in a verse of Scripture I read now. The word I need for someone might just come from my quiet time in God’s presence now. I must be conscious of the eternal weight this day may hold. There is always more to our lives than ‘now.’
This week remember … if God took time to prepare this specific day in your life, then do your part in preparing for it as well. And the very best preparation is simply the knowledge that you and God have important things to do in this day!
