Abundance!

You asked for a single dip cone… this is more of what God had in mind for you!

I really think that in our poor obedience and stunted requests, we don’t receive from God as much as He would love to pour into our lives. When we give freely of our lives, our finances and strength… and we do it in service and out of love for Him, He loves to surprise us with more than we could have imagined.

We hesitatingly hold out our small paper cut and ask for a spoon of ice cream when his heart yearns to set before us a two pound extravaganza banana split with five scoops of ice cream, hot fudge and caramel topping, mounds of whipped cream and a handful of toasted pecans with not one, but two maraschino cherries proudly atop the creation.

God is the most un-stingy Person in his universe!

Watch him challenge Peter who, after fishing all night with no success, obediently casts his nets into the water again and almost sinks his boat under God’s blessing. Watch the poor widow who gives of her last morsel of food to feed the prophet and then reaps a never-ending supply of food for the rest of her life.

Pay attention to David and his men (I Samuel 30) who chase the Amalekites to rescue their families stolen in a raid. After the enemy is defeated, David and his band return home with Amalekite wealth, making them richer by far than when their ordeal began.

God ‘supersizes’ his gifts.

Read the following passages to cement it in your mind that it pays to honor God, for He will not only be a debtor to no one, but will respond with lavish over-giving.

“Then your barns will be abundantly filled and your vats will overflow with new wine.”

Proverbs 3:10 AMP

“You provide delicious food for me in the presence of my enemies.

You have welcomed me as your guest; blessings overflow!”

Psalm 23:5 TLB

“You feed them from the abundance of your own house, letting them drink from

your river of delights.” Psalm 36:8 NLT

“And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times,

having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.”

II Corinthians 9:8 NIV

You obviously don’t think the issue is just related to ice cream, right? God looks for ways to add to your life in many ways. Allow Him to lavish love and abundance on you this week.
