Answering Jesus’ Questions – Part 4

You have an exceptional story that needs to be told. Someone needs to hear it today!

“Who do you say I am?”

After healing a blind man in the town of Bethsaida, Jesus and his disciples were headed to villages around Caesarea Philippi when He asked them a couple of questions.

“Who do people say I am? Mark 8:27 NIV They responded, “Some say John the Baptist; others say Elijah; and still others, one of the prophets.” I’m sure this was information Jesus already knew… He wanted to probe their own answer to this question of his identity.

In verse 29 He then asked, “But what about you… Who do you say I am?”

And that is the question He needs us to answer. Our honest answer digs deep into our personal relationship with Him. It also becomes the substance of our life’s testimony!

It’s pretty amazing what many people think about Jesus. To them He’s a religious icon and strict. He is out of touch and irrelevant. He means more to older people than young people. He’s used as a crutch for weak people.

In our impersonal, chaotic, hope-deprived and ambivalent world we now populate, do you thionk our personal testimonies just might warrant a hearing? Don’t you believe that the hopeless would like to find hope… the lonely would love a dear Friend… the broken would welcome a healer?

It’s time we followers of Jesus spoke up and spoke out about who we say Jesus is!

He’s the Son of God… the Savior who has taken our punishment. He’s promised eternal life to anyone who responds to his love. He’s wraped us in the arms of his incomparable comfort even in terrible times. He’s a dear friend to anyone who will take his hand. He’s exciting in the lives of the young and the old. He’s given indescribable peace in every storm. He’s been the Waymaker when there absolutely was no way!

I know there are seekers in your world today who need to hear you answer this question. We can verbally applaud Jesus’ work in our lives and our words will ignite hearts to seek out this amazing Jesus.

Share the story of the ‘old you’ when you probably were living a life very much like the one they are living. Tell them how Jesus changed everything.

Evangelism isn’t strong because of the theology you share, but because of the transformed life-story you are living and sharing.

“O Lord, I will praise you with all my heart and tell everyone about

the marvelous things you do.” Psalm 9:1 TLB
