Speechless!

Can anyone adequately describe the immensity of God’s love and his gift of his only Son? Any gift or blessing from Him is ‘tongue-tying.’

“…the virgin will conceive and give birth to a son,

and she will call his name Immanuel (God with us). Isaiah 7:14 NLT

Our nephew sings in a night of worship on the first Tuesday of every month in the Dallas area. His giftedness and heart are both amazing. In the course of last Tuesday’s music he was to sing the duet “The Prayer” with a young woman, also a superb musician!

Joanie expressed the sentiment to me that she would love to have been there to experience this special duet. However, we were 1500 miles and two airline tickets short of the event! But would you believe it… a young man we have known for decades happened to be there, recorded it and just happened to decide to send it to us!

I read recently that God gives God. He’s a giving Father and his gift is always Himself. And that should astound us. As we listened with surprised and grateful hearts, we credited God with that gift from ‘out of nowhere.’ Hallmark calls this a ‘God wink.’

What’s it like when God “… is with us”  with gifts for us? It’s far more than a wink!! It’s overwhelming, exciting, beyond words, unspeakable. Yes… unspeakable, beyond explanation and we fail for words! The Apostle Paul called Jesus: “…God’s unspeakable gift.” II Corinthians 9:15 KJV

The Gift of Jesus in our lives is really all we need because “Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above; it comes down from the Father of lights [the Creator and Sustainer of the heavens], in whom there is no variation [no rising or setting] or shadow cast by His turning [for He is perfect and never changes].” James 1:17 AMP

God overspends on everything He gives us and He certainly didn’t skimp sending his Son. He is always ‘supersizing’ his gifts. If you ask Him for a desert wildflower, He doesn’t send you one flower for your vase. He throws a hundred billion flowers across the desert landscape to take your breath away.

What do you need this Christmas?

Feeling helpless and hopeless? Get ready to get drowned in hope and happiness. Prepare to be smothered in peace to counter your anxieties. Don’t have enough? Open your arms and heart wide… an overabundance may just be heading your way.

When God arrives, the party begins. The Father with ‘more than enough’ has entered! Bring a big bucket, enlarge your closet, think bigger than you ever have.

You have an extravagant Father!
