‘Dowdy’? Hardly – Try ‘Mighty Through God’

There’s nothing dowdy about us. We’re warriors in God’s army!

Often as Christians we don’t turn too many heads. Just a miniscule sprinkling of us would merit even one paparazzi tailing us around town. My guess is that fewer than one in five million of us have ever had a street or building named after them.

And we’d probably look pretty drab walking a red carpet!

The Apostle Paul made the distinction between ‘us’ and ‘them’ this way, “Take a good look, friends, at who you were when you got called into this life. I don’t see many of “the brightest and the best” among you, not many influential, not many from high-society families. Isn’t it obvious that God deliberately chose men and women that the culture overlooks and exploits and abuses, chose these “nobodies” to expose the hollow pretensions of the “somebodies”? I Corinthians 1:26,27 MSG

I want you to see why God would allow His followers to be considered a bit dowdy in this day and age. Here is what He is presently bringing into fruition from the Old Testament prophet Zephaniah:“I will remove all your proud and arrogant people from among you; there will be no pride or haughtiness on my holy mountain. Those who are left will be the poor and the humble, and they will trust in the name of the Lord.” Zephaniah 3:11,12 TLB

You may not feel like it and we collectively may not look like it… but you and I are alive “here and now” because when you were born, it was to bring you to this precise time in history for Him to use your gifts for His purpose. God will show the world the powerful difference between “the brightest and best, the high society crew and those constantly in the spotlight compared with those of us our culture overlooks, exploits and abuses.

We may look dowdy to many today. They may see us as irrelevant to what’s going on in the world, but they’re not looking close enough! Being ‘lowly in spirit’ makes us unusually useful to God. We are God’s front-line special forces, His “cream of the crop” destined for the battle we now face.

You possess the spiritual tools to bring about a great spiritual breakthrough that’s been promised and prophesied since Old Testament times. I am convinced that we are now living in ‘the last days’ of Joel’s prophecy where God will pour out His Spirit upon all flesh. (Joel 2:28)

Jesus Himself said, “This gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in the whole world as a testimony to all the nations, and then the end will come.” Matthew 24:14 NASB

Ask God to put you anyplace in His spiritual forces and give you the strength and courage to fight the good fight of faith until He wins His victory.
