Live Christmas This Year

Don’t try to sell the story. Live it instead!

You can be a Christmas fanatic without really understanding the full extent of God’s part in the season. The birth of Christ separated time into two distinct units… the simple fact is, Jesus made a huge difference and continues making a huge difference in our world.

Yet His birth didn’t add breathtaking beauty that we could see with our eyes. His arrival didn’t bring with it automatic world peace. The economies of the world didn’t break all previous monetary heights. To the people alive at that time it was a ‘non event.’

Yet just as His coming came largely unannounced (not counting the angelic choir blowing away the sleep of the shepherds) it crept into small village of Bethlehem , and the impact of that delivery has shaken every bit of history since that night.

The difficulty for some of us alive today with Jesus living in our hearts, is how are we to best advertise the difference Jesus has made in us. Are we to chastise the unbeliever? Absolutely not. They’re doing the best they can without the knowledge and life change that we enjoy. Their way of celebrating needs to remind us of some of the perks we receive by actually knowing the Babe in the mange:

  • Jesus brings a satisfaction that nothing or no one else can deliver.
  • We live with an unshakable peace that is ‘tamper proof’ and good for all we face.
  • We enjoy something better than AAA; we have a ‘convey of hope’ that arrives in our moment of need before we need to make a call!
  • Our ticket is already punched and ready for use to put us in a mansion for eternity. And it includes all expenses for the trip there

We shouldn’t have to push our stories as much as simple living them. There’s something quite unassuming, yet powerful, to have a story that draws people into wanting what we possess. And when they ask where we got what we’ve got… we can gently lead them back to the manger where Baby Jesus first laid His head.

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son

so that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have everlasting life.”

John 3:16 NKJV
