God knew exactly what we would need… His Baby Son would make it available to us!

God peers from heaven’s portals with barely contained excitement, for this Gift sent as a tiny baby boy could change everything. His coming would bring consequences beyond our ability to grasp. Lives would change, hope spring up in soil long since depleted of heavenly nutrients.

In his coming, broken bodies would find healing and the tyranny of evil would meet more than its match. When this baby breathed his first breath, death symbolically breathed its last. The Baby in the manger was the most astonishing solution to all that was wrong on this planet. He was the most comprehensive package ever assembled… God’s awesome intervention!

Isaiah said He would be called Wonderful Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father and the Prince of Peace. Oh, how we need what He brings!

• He must be ‘wonderful’ because we need someone in our lives who is more than just ‘nice to be around.’ His presence must take our breath away!
• He must be ‘counselor’ because we need someone in our lives who has already walked where we walk and understands the demands of living in a disappointing fallen world.
• He must be a ‘mighty God’ because a lesser deity just won’t get the job done.
• He must be an ‘everlasting Father’ because we’ve had short term care before in our lives and we need someone who will go all the way into eternity with us.
• And he must be the ‘prince of peace’ because life and its pounding drive and excessive demands tend to robe us of internal peace and any sense of hope for our future.

Rejoice that giving this Gift brought such joy to the Father’s heart. As you open your gifts, don’t ever forget how desperately God longed for us to receive His! And don’t settle for anything less than this amazing Baby offers.
