Every leader in the country needs the grace and wisdom of God. We must pray to that end.

“The first thing I want you to do is pray. Pray every way you know how, for everyone you know. Pray especially for rulers and their governments to rule well so we can be quietly about our business of living simply, in humble contemplation.”  I Timothy 2:1,2 The Message

It’s both a Christian’s duty and privilege to pray for our government and its leaders. The residual bonus to us is that when our leaders govern righteously and with integrity, our lives are much easier. As we pray, we ask God to prompt those who lead us to do so with a minimum of pride and a large dose of humility. We surround those leaders with prayer for clear thinking and pure motives. We ask God to surround them with Godly counsel and to give them open and understanding hearts.

Righteousness always exalts a nation and gives its residents a safe and peaceful environment in which to live.

Ponder: Do you have a list of political leaders for whom you pray? Is there a particular issue that captivates your attention and pulls you into intercession? Is there a leader who might need to get an e-mail or letter from you, letting them know that you prayer for them on a regular basis?
