He’s Going To Do It!
A kindergarten teacher gave her students the first half of a famous ‘proverb’ and asked them to fill in its ending. For “It’s always darkest before….” a student concluded with ‘daylight savings time.”
I’m kind of hoping that next month’s change of time can get rid of much of the intense darkness in our world right now. As recently as twenty years ago I could not have comprehended:
- Transgenderism
- Wokeness
- Lying politicians who cover their fabrications by changing the subject
- Parents who kill a child because it interferes with their lives
- $85-$100 costs required to fill up our cars
Do I need to go on?
Somehow, we must listen to hear the Holy Spirit say, “I’m from the Father and I’m here to help you.” I’m extremely tired of hearing any politician say, “I’m from the government and I’m here to help you.”
I’d love for the Apostle Paul to address me with “Grace and peace from God the Father” as was his normal greeting. The stress is bubbling over, the tension is life-sapping. Where’s a far-away island without dueling news outlets spreading disinformation and terror about our future.
I am not an eschatologist and miss a lot of small hints… but I’m sure of two things. I am certain that we are living in the beginning stages of God’s greatest visitation of this planet since He sent his Son… but also the culmination of wickedness spoken of in Scripture that precedes the return of Christ.
I want to be part of Holy Spirit’s work in our world. I don’t want any more Bible stories unless God will do it again in my generation! And why should we doubt that He wants to do just a thing?
Many years ago we lived surrounded by many mourning doves, and their soft, drawn-out calls made them sound far, far away. It always amazed me to see the bird on a branch not 20 feet from me!
I believe God’s Holy Spirit has been “cooing” his presence in these dark times and when He takes flight, the sharp whistle of his wings will be his sign that not only has He always been near, but that his time to fly has come and He has work to do.
God is going to fulfill his promise to those who have asked.
“… if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray
and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven,
and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
II Chronicles 7:14 NIV
