They’re Coming!

God is about to invade his world with his presence and love. Get ready to share your faith!

“When they said, “Let’s go to the house of God,” my heart leaped for joy.”

 Psalm 122:1 MSG

Although written by a Jewish king to Jewish people on their way to Jerusalem to worship, I firmly believe God is giving us permission to use this verse also for the day and environment we live in presently.

In this time of anticipation for a world-wide move of God’s Spirit… waiting for the ‘Light’ to come on in the hearts and minds of people everywhere, this verse portends a most exciting time on the earth for Christ followers.

We must expand our concept of the ‘house of God’ until it means more than a building, but speaks as well of our lives as temples in which God dwells. (“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God?” I Corinthians 6:19 NIV)

With all my heart I believe that we are rapidly approaching a time, all over the globe, when people will begin to seek after the God they have ignored and feared. There is gathering around us an aroma of death, defeat and great desperation. Our spirits do not do well in this kind of atmosphere.

Desperate people will take, what to them are desperate measures. They will begin looking for help from a God they weren’t sure even existed. They will look for a place that offers peace and security and can answer their deepest questions and calm their greatest fears.

A church on the corner may be appealing to them. We must be ready to welcome former skeptics and show them love, kindness and the path to salvation.

But back to believers being temples of God…

Many will turn to obvious religious buildings and religious trappings, but most will more quickly seek out Christians in whom the powerful Spirit of God lives. They will see in our lives evidence of the words we have spoken and will be glad to sit in our presence and listen to God’s call to them coming through our words.

Some quick steps to prepare for this critical personal ministry:

First, quit any duplicity in your life. Walk like you’ve been talking. Seekers will quickly turn away from hypocrisy. Second, get your testimony out and ready.  “… if anybody asks why you believe as you do, be ready to tell him, and do it in a gentle and respectful way.” I Peter 3:15 TLB

We are moving into an era that the Apostle Paul could only dream of… that our predecessors longed to be involved in. Get ready for people who want God’s presence, whether in a building where God’s Spirit is at work, or in your life where God’s Spirit is at work!
