OK, Now Wait!

Patience is not just waiting, but believing that while you wait God is working to bring the answer.

I believe that many of you who have read the last four devotionals have made a decision to respond to God.

  1. You believe that God has revealed His plan for these times, and is about to generate a massive revival around the world.
  2. You have decided to shake off any inactivity in his Kingdom projects and become more flexible to His promptings in your spiritual life.
  3. Next, you’ve given Him permission to share His heart’s dream with you and have begun to sense hidden dreams in your heart and realizing they actually are a part of His dream. He is giving you creativity to find and follow his plans for your life.
  4. However, creativity and dreaming with Him are of no use to us or His Kingdom unless we add our obedience to the mix… complete and immediate obedience to His promptings.

Lastly, we must bring God’s timing into this scenario. We live in a culture that makes this next ingredient difficult for us to follow. Everything and everybody around us scream for ‘immediacy!’

We eagerly grab the throttle and move it all the way forward into “RIGHT NOW.” We view time as something we control along with the authority and knowledge to make it happen.

Giving up control of timing is one of our toughest struggles.

God does few things immediately. Most often He sets the scene well in advance. Things come together in stunning ways when all His works come together in one glorious point in time. Yet it’s always His time, seldom ‘our time.’

Some components of God’s work take place out of sight and in the distance. We abhor such delays! Certainly God could see it from our viewpoint!

The fourth ingredient to our involvement in God’s reconciliation of the world brings us to the painful word: PATIENCE.

Pulling apples off trees while the size of marbles does not make a good apple pie. Nor does stuffing God’s plan into our agenda bring about satisfying results. God’s best gifts come in ‘the fullness of time.’

“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son” Galatians 4:4 ESV

As you stand ready to take part… your dreams and creativity percolating with God’s dreams, willing and obedient to give your best shot at partnering with Him, now wait and watch for the next signal. It may be today or maybe not. God knows your part and when it needs to be shared.

“As God’s co-workers we urge you not to receive God’s grace in vain.  For he says,

’In the time of my favor I heard you, and in the day of salvation I helped you.

I tell you, now is the time of God’s favor, now is the day of salvation.’”

II Corinthians 6:1,2 NIV

Let’s wait for God’s “this is the time” and then move out!
